Asked to bat first, Mohammedan made a very disappointing start as they lost their opener Ezaj early to Arafat Sunny. Another Mohammedan opener Shamsur Rahman contributed 36 runs before walking back to the pavilion. After that Tharanga built a valuable 109 runs partnership with Samit Patel and later Mohammedan late order’s quick fire in the last stage eventually they were able to post a challenging 268 for 6 in their stipulated 50 overs.

Mohammedan middle order batsman Samit Patel scored team’s highest 76 while Tharanga responsibly supported him adding 62 runs.

Chasing 269 for win, Gazi Tank got off to the worst possible start as their opener Hamidul Islam was bowled in the very second over of their innings by Delwar Hossain. Dangerous Eoin Morgan walked in and walked back in the very next ball without troubling the opponent bowlers. Things were going in favor of Mohammeadan as they were able to send Gazi Tank top 3 batsmen to dressing room inside just 7 runs.

Later Gazi Tank another opener Imrul Kayes, along with skipper Mahmudullah, put on 61 for the fourth wicket until Kayes was caught behind the stumps by Muktar Ali for 36. But later a 65-run stand from Mahmudullah and Ryan ten Doeschate tried to claim triumph.

However, after breaking this partnership Gazi Tank other batsmen failed to be stable in the crease and lost their composure. Gazi Tank lost their wickets consecutively on the other hand Mahmudullah soley defended Mohammedan bowling attack and picked up his maiden century in this season. But his brilliant effort eventually came in vain when Gazi Tank were dismissed for 214 in 42 overs.

Mahmudullah staged an outstanding batting show (106 off 125 balls) with 12 fours and two over the rope.

Mohammedan spinner Samit Patel bagged three wickets for 52 runs.

Samit Patel was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant all-round performance.
