Mohammedan Sporting Club and Uttar Baridhara shared the points in a goalless draw in the JB Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Local giant Mohammedan Sporting Club finished their Bangladesh Premier League 2015-16 campaign at a disappointing 10th position after they were held to a goalless draw by Uttar Baridhara Club at Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The traditional Black and Whites got a golden opportunity to break the deadlock in the ninth minute but Cameroonian defender Pouemi Landry’s shot from a Masuj Miah Jony chip hit the crosspiece.

The Motijheel outfit got another chance to take the lead moments later but Aminur Rahman Sajib failed to tap in from a Ismael Bangoura through pass.

Baridhara also went close to taking the lead in the 22nd minute but Guinean defender Sylla Mansa’s header from a Khalekuzzaman Sabuj corner hit the crosspost.

Mohammedan concluded their campaign with 20 points from 22 matches while Baridhara finished second from bottom in the 12-team standings with 18 points from the same number of outings as the former.

Skeikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club’s Nigerian forward Emeka Darlington (R) tussles for the ball with Mohammedan Sporting Club players during their Bangladesh Premier League match at the Bnagabandhu National Stadium.

Mohammedan Sporting Club earned a crucial point in their bid to avoid relegation from the top tier by holding defending champions Sheikh Jamal DC to a 1-1 draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The Black and Whites, who have hovered just above the drop zone for the entire league this season, are two points above second-from-bottom Uttar Baridhara and four clear of table-sweepers Feni Soccer Club. Mohammedan have one game remaining while the two sides below them have two games in hand each, with two teams set to be demoted to the second tier at the end of the season.

The Black and Whites were the ones to break the deadlock when Tawhidul Alam Sabuj brilliantly placed the ball past diving Sheikh Jamal goalie Mazharul Islam Himel on 19 minutes after receiving a through-pass from skipper Ismail Bangoura. This was the eight goal of the campaign for the former national striker, who had spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines due to injury.

The lead lasted only six minutes as Sheikh Jamal’s Gambian forward Landing Darboe found the top left corner of the net with a curling free-kick, leaving Mohammedan goalkeeper Mohammad Nehal rooted to his spot. Both sides had their fare share of chances to grab the lead, but eventually no more goals meant both had to leave the field with a share of the spoils.

The draw left Mohammedan with 19 points while Sheikh Jamal remained third with 31 points.

Struggling Mohamme-dan SC came from behind to play out a 2-2 draw against neighbouring Arambagh KS in their JB Bangladesh Premier League fixture at Bangabandhu National Stadium .

Dhaka Mohammedan staged a superb comeback to hold Arambagh to a 2-2 draw in the JB Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.

Sajidur Rahman Sajid and Jafar Iqbal put Arambagh ahead twice in the 16th and 73rd minute respectively.

Forward Towhidul Alam Sabuz and Nigerian midfielder Patrice Nzekou scored to give the traditional Black and White outfits an important point.

Both sides played out a goalless draw in the first-leg and this 2-2 made a little impact in the points table as both Arambagh and Mohammedan remained in their previous positions of seventh and 10th respectively.

Arambagh now have 22 points from 19 matches while Mohammedan still remained on the relegation zone with 18 points from same number of outings.

Sajidur put Arambagh ahead in the 16th minute when he tapped the ball home from a goalmouth melee following Abdullah’s corner.

Mohammedan levelled the margin in the 33rd minute when Towhidul Alam Sabuz headed home on a cross from Guinean Ismail Bangoura.

Jafar Iqbal restored the lead for Arambagh in the 73rd minute when the left winger dodged past advancing keeper Mohammad Nehal before sending the ball into an empty net.

However, the lead lasted only for 13 minutes as Patrice saw his left footed grounder following a back header of Bangoura found the right corner of the net in the 86th minute.
